Products & compliance tracking

We track plug-in solar products and the evidence behind them. We don't sell or install — and we never label a product UK-compliant without recorded, reviewed evidence.

Tracked products — none confirmed compliant for UK plug-in use

The systems below are real plug-in / “balcony” solar products sold in the EU (and some are obtainable in the UK). But plug-in solar cannot currently be legally used in the UK, so none is confirmed compliant. We track them so the information is ready when the rules change. Specifications shown as “—” have not yet been independently verified.

How we assess a product

When products can be assessed, these are the things we weigh up.

Output and size
Panel count, DC wattage and the AC inverter output — and whether the size fits within any UK limit once one is set.
Microinverter quality
A reputable, properly certified microinverter with mains protection is central to safety and reliability.
Mounting and suitability
Whether the included mounting suits balconies, walls, gardens or flat roofs, and how secure it is.
Monitoring
How you can see what the system is generating, and whether per-panel data is available.
Documentation and certification
Clear manuals, declarations of conformity and the certifications relevant to UK requirements.
Warranty and support
The length and terms of the warranty, and whether UK support is available.
Value
Price against output and quality — judged on the evidence, not headline figures.

What each compliance status means

  • Announced

Publicised by the manufacturer but not yet generally available.

  • Available abroad

Sold in other markets (for example the EU), but not confirmed for UK plug-in use.

  • In the UK — not confirmed for plug-in use

Obtainable in the UK, but not confirmed as legal or suitable for plug-in connection here.

  • Documentation under review

We are reviewing the manufacturer's documentation and the available evidence.

  • UK compliance confirmed

Evidence of UK compliance for plug-in use has been recorded and reviewed.

  • Withdrawn

No longer available or withdrawn from sale.

Evidence required before we list a product as compliant

  • A clear legal basis for plug-in use in the UK (which does not yet exist).
  • Manufacturer declarations of conformity and the relevant product-safety certifications.
  • A microinverter that meets the applicable UK electrical and grid-protection requirements.
  • Installation and connection instructions consistent with UK regulations.
  • A recorded evidence review, dated, before any 'compliance-confirmed' label is applied.
